Biography

Thomas Sidney Jerome Sturridge (Most commonly known as Tom Sturridge) was born in London, England in December, 1985. He was born to parents Charles Sturridge, who is a director, and Phoebe Nicholls, who is an actress. Tom is the oldest of three siblings – he has two younger siblings, Arthur and Matilda.

His first project was as Tom Gulliver in “Gulliver’s Travels” in 1996, before moving on to playing Hab in “FairyTale: A True Story”. Tom then went on to play Older Georgy Osborne in the 2004 film “Vanity Fair”, as well as also playing Roger Gosselyn in the 2004 film “Being Julia.” In 2006, Tom starred as Nigel Colbie in the film “Like Minds”.

After taking a short break, Tom returned to the screen for the 2009 film “The Boat That Rocked” (also known as “Pirate Radio” in the US) as the youngest cast member, portraying Carl.

Tom made his stage debut in 2009 in “Punk Rock” which debuted on September 3, 2009 at the Lyric Hammersmith. It then also ran from October 7 – October 31st at the Royal Exchange Theatre in Manchester, UK.

Tom won his first award for theatre in 2009, as the Best Newcomer for the Manchester Evening News Theatre Awards!

In 2010, Tom landed a role in “Junkhearts” as Danny, and filmed “On The Road” with Garrett Hedlund, Kristen Stewart, Sam Riley, and Kirsten Dunst.

Coming up in 2011 is the release of “On The Road” as well as “Waiting For Forever”, which Tom stars alongside Rachel Bilson.
