Junkhearts co-star Candese Reid Talks About Tom

In an interview with View London, Tom’s Junkhearts co-star Candese Reid talked a bit about Tom:

What attracted you to the part and how did you get involved?

What attracted me to the role of Lynette in Junkhearts was the fact her character and personality were very similar to my own. Simon Frank’s dialogue really made me giggle and I found it very easy to relate to her. I got involved by firstly attending an audition. After this, I was recalled for another where I had to run through some of the script and carry out some improvisations with [co-star] Tom Sturridge. Tom was an amazing addition to this team and without him I doubt I would have felt so totally confident, even with the sex scenes, and able to push myself as much as I did.

Tom in ‘Times Magazine’ & New Photo Shoot for ‘Lyle & Scott’

Tom has a new photo shoot for Lyle & Scott! You can check out all the photos at their website – here.

The photos were also part of Tom’s interview for The Times Magazine.

Here’s a little bit about the shoot and interview from Lyle & Scott:

Tom Sturridge got the Lyle and Scott Heritage treatment for his shoot with The Times Magazine for Saturday’s issue. We kitted him out in seasonal cord trousers, a crisp, quality Oxford shirt, and a range of warming Heritage sweaters. The look was finished off with our popular winter classic Pea coat and knitted blazer.

After the shoot, Tom headed to the pub with interviewer Ben Machell for a few pints of Guinness and a packet of crisps. He was secretive about his relationship with Sienna Miller, and avoided talking about Robert Pattinson and other areas of his private life. However he did give away that he is about to begin work on a new film.

Sturridge looks the part in the photoshoot. An ironic hint of Neanderthal comes through in some of the shots, a stroke of wit, given his articulate disposition. It’s a real juxtaposition of opposites as he poses in Lyle and Scott’s British designed, classic and sophisticated attire with his rugged beard and dishevelled hair.

“Junkhearts” Part of Empire’s Staff Picks at the BFI London Film Festival

Empire picked Junkhearts as one of the films they’re looking for to at the BFI London Film Festival! The writer did have a bit to say about Tom:

But the real reason why I’m looking forward to Junkhearts is, shamefully, that I went to school with its other lead, Tom Sturridge. Look, I’m telling it to you straight here – he’s a talented little bastard, and after undemanding fluff like The Boat The Rocked, it’s going to be great to see him actually get his teeth into the “real” role of manipulative drug dealer Danny.

Tom joins ‘Effie’

According to Deadline, Tom has a new role as John Everett Millais in Effie alongside Dakota Fanning.

Here’s more about the film:

Dakota Fanning will star in the title role of Effie, the Emma Thompson-scripted period biopic about the unfortunate marriage between Euphemia Gray and the famed critic John Ruskin in 1850s London. Richard Laxton (An Englishman in New York) is directing. Though the teenager was gorgeous, Effie’s husband never consummated the marriage over five years because Ruskin was for some reason disgusted by her body. After suffering through a loveless marriage and browbeating by her in-laws, Effie fell in love with Ruskin’s protégé, painter John Everett Millais.

Jane Seymour Talks About Tom and Waiting For Forever

Movieweb talked to Jane Seymour who produced Waiting For Forever (which is out on DVD today) about the film and Tom!

Yeah, it’s like he [Will, the character] doesn’t have these filters that “normal” people do, to mask emotions and things like that. He is completely unfiltered and it was fun to watch.

Jane Seymour: That’s what I loved about the movie. It was very hard to find the right actor. Literally every young actor around tested for it. Tom Sturridge tested and James and I and Trevor Albert, the other producer, we just said, “Here’s the guy. Here’s Will.’

Was there anything specific you were looking for in Will, or was it just something that you knew when you saw it?

Jane Seymour: It’s very hard to find someone who can play that kind of innocence that you really believe. He had to be quirky, but, at the same time, he had to be attractive enough where you could understand that a relationship with Rachel Bilson could happen. He just had so many levels and, of course, he’s completely English, but you would never know when you watch the movie.
